13 Practical Philosophies For 2023…

1. Optimism; setbacks are temporary and limited, not permanent and pervasive. They will pass if you keep working.

2. Quitting; if you quit then you throw away all the lessons you learned from your struggles.

3. The expansive mindset; the conservative part of our natures wants us to be sensible, stay within our borders and repeat what has already worked. But the creative mindset is the expansive mindset and needs us to enter new territory.

4. Priorities; our number one priority triggers procrastination because it is psychologically stressful. But getting our number one priority done is the most meaningful progress we can make, and leads us to confidence and momentum.

5. Individual creative artist; you’re not just a schmuck who churns through auditions. You are creating an aesthetic and a specific body of work.

6. Kissing ass; kissing ass will only make your position even more fragile than it already is.

7. It’s better to do no work than bad work; stay at home and read novels until you figure out a better opportunity for your work.

8. Revel in your individuality; step out, think for yourself and draw your own conclusions.

9. Individualism is creativity.

10. Learning is intrinsically beautiful.

11. Your purpose is to construct a body of work over decades.

12. Be like fire – grow on obstacles.

13. Figure out the essence of what it is you want and formulate it into something you can give to yourself – then you will feel free.
